With the growth of Turks and Caicos (Kayk-us) Islands, sun worshippers discovered the islands, especially Providenciales -- nicked "Provo" in the early '90s -- more and more vacationers are flocking to the islands. The Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) are a coral-reef paradise, largely shut off from the world, free of pollution and crowds. Even with the advent of real tourist development and the bustle of construction, particularly in Provo, the beauty and tranquillity of this little island chain remain intact. They're still off the beaten track, and they're not right for travelers who want lots of glitzy facilities or nightlife.
